How can I download and run the latest Java Updates when my browser simply refuses to go to the recommended website(s) or any other webpage the uses JavaScript?
I cannot get the Firefox browser to go to the Java site to download the updates and it will not go to other sites that use JavaScript. I have tried disabling my firewall but this makes no difference.
I have noticed with some sites I can enter them but I cannot view objects that have been created with JavaScript, for example; my own website at http://shaedandu.com.au... Certain objects such as my Thawte security seals do not appear, and yet other people tell me they show up fine on the live version that they can see from their browser.
I have cleaned out my internet cache a few times in the last week... Switching back to Windows Internet Explorer doesn't help either, even though I prefer Firefox to be my default browser.
Can you offer a solution?

Java is totally different than Javascript. http://www.htmlgoodies.com/beyond/javascript/article.php/3470971/Java-vs-JavaScript.htm. So if Javascript isn't working on your computer, installing Java isn't going to help, though you should make sure your Java is up to date using https://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/.
Try to Reset Firefox. Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings
hello, java is not the same as javascript (the later runs in the browser without any plugins necessary).
in case websites don't get rendered correctly please refer to the following support article, which contains the most common solutions: Websites look wrong or appear differently than they should
for connection problems see Firefox can't load websites but other browsers can.
from the system information you've submitted it appears that the java plugin by oracle is already present on your system (but not the latest version). if you're having problems downloading java update 7 from java.com you can also use the inbuilt updater for java, that is accessible in the windows control panel (see http://www.java.com/en/download/help/java_update.xml).

Hi Tyler... I've tried some of these suggestions with no success, but I will go to the two links you've provided and see if their solutions work. I will leave this request open for now until I can get back to this forum and let folks know how it went. Thank you. - Adrian McG
Thanks MP... I'll read up on these links too.

UPDATE: Maybe I've taken the wrong approach in describing the problem. Let me restate the matter in different words:
Put more simply, I can get into some websites and not others. I can open the Mozilla Plug-in page but when I click the UDATE buttons for the new Java plug-ins my browser will not go to the http://www.java.com site or any page under that domain for that matter.
How can I clear what is preventing me from downloading and running the updates? Any Ideas? See attached images.

Ok, so that' totally different, basically it looks like something is happening with perhaps your internet connection. I would check a few things here:
- Check with your ISP on your internet connection, restart your modem, etc.
- Scan your computer for malware, Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware

You can update Java directly from the Java site. You may need only the 32-bit version of Java (Firefox) or you may need both the 32-bit and 64 bit versions of Java depending on other browsers that you have installed
- Windows 32-bit or 64 bit Java or both - https://www.java.com/en/download/faq/java_win64bit.xml
