How do I make the adress bar autocomplete 'g' to google.com instead of gizmodo.com?
I have already tried deleting the "gizmodo.com" entry both in the drop down menu and my history. It is only recently that firefox does this, I have been using it for years without this problem occuring.

You could consider adding a bookmark keyword that resolves the letter g to https://www.google.com/. Here's how:
(1) Bookmark the Google home page somewhere
(2) Access the bookmark details by right-clicking it and choosing Properties (this works on the Bookmarks menu, Bookmarks Toolbar, or in the Sidebar).
(3) In the form, you'll find a blank field for Keyword. Here you can enter g and then save your change.
To use the keyword, type g in the address bar and press Enter. It overrides all the other kinds of autocomplete behavior.

As I already said in my post, I already did these things and the problem's still there.

Did you go over the whole article though ?
Make sure you don't have a bookmark for gizmodo.com, cause then deleting the entry as described earlier, won't work.

Thank you jscher2000, that did indeed work. Weirdly enough though, the .com url doesn't work - while the local one it redirects to does.
