Hi there, After installing my new Dell PC with Windows 8.1, I wanted to start using Thunderbird as my emailprogram. I have downloaded the 31.6 version.

However, it seems to me that the email performance is extremely slow. Sending and downloading emails is alright, but switching from one email to the next one in inbox takes up to 20 seconds! Deleting emails, same thing! In both cases I get the message 'TB does not respond'. Switching between my two accounts is also a frustrating proces, as that takes even longer.

Pleae, who ca help me out by telling me what I have done wrong? Many thanks in advance. Kind regards, Haico

Hi, I installed Thunderbird recently and added my Hotmail and Gmail account (both using IMAP). With Gmail everything works fine but for my Hotmail account only the Inbox is synchronized properly. The sent folder contains mails I sent from Thunderbird and those mails are also in the webmail sent-folder. But older sent mails and mails sent from another device do not appear in the Thunderbird Sent-folder. "Drafts" and "Sent" are checked in the folder subscriptions menu. Thanks for help in advance. Hi,

I'm having trouble setting up the IMAP mail from my work exchange server in a fresh install of Thunderbird. Once I'd put in the server address Thunderbird retrieved all of the security settings, which I've checked agains the provided settings that are listed in the webmail. I've also used these settings to set up IMAP mail on my phone to triple check everything. However, in the account set-up screen I still recieve the message "Configuration cannot be verified - Is your username/password correct?" (again, I checked everything I was using independently and they were accepted). Once I got out of the initial set-up screen the error changed to the following:

"The Kerberos/GSSAPI ticket was not accepted by the IMAP server <my email address>. Please check that you are logged into the Kerberos/GSSAPI realm."

The only possibility that I can think of is that Thunderbird is trying to use my email address instead of the server to authenticate which is why I'm recieving the error. The mail address is xx@uu.nl while the server is soliscom.uu.nl.

Any help or suggestions that anyone has would be welcome, Cheers.

Thunderbird frequently goes 'not responding' when autosaving as a draft. I'll be merrily typing away, then as it autosaves to draft, then words stop being processed, then Thunderbird goes to 'not responding' for a short while. It then responds, and part of what I was typing when it seized up appears, but not all of it (I assume, but can't say for certain, that the text that I type before it goes 'not responding' appears, but none after that).

I've looked online, but I can't find this problem elsewhere.

I've got a high spec laptop, so that's not the issue. (i7 Processor, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD, 2GB dedicated graphics RAM, etc - Windows 8.1.)

Any advice would be most appreciated! :)

Thanks! Sam

I use TB to carry out usenet access This has been working fine for a number of years. - so not an account issue

2 weeks ago had to do a clean install of W7 OS and thus new install of TB (ver 31.2.0)

It reads usenet threads OK, and creates posts OK .. The issue is when you do a 'Follow up' post in a thread. What happens is that the original mail changes so that text has no line Line Breaks ... i.e. really long lines of text It only changes when you click on 'Follow Up', and you can see the original text go longer than visible window.

If you try to send it fails with error that .... line length is greater than 79 characters. If you do a select all and then CTRL+R it will reformat and will send OK, most of the time (seems to fail if URL would need to be split)

Looks like something has changed in default newsreader (others seeing it as well)

I took a look and can't find a line wrap setting ..... anybody advise ?

When you send emails to the same people over and over Thunderbird starts to automatically what you'll guess after just a few keystrokes.

For example, if I type js it will autocomplete jsmith@gmail.com and I won't have to type anything more. In the latest update the performance has regressed from what used to be instantaneous to now a couple tenths of a second and is a big nuisance. Now I type js and hit enter I just get js. If I type js and then pause for a brief moment then auto-complete fills in.

Can you please fix this.

I can't locate addresses in my Address Book because of a separate TBird problem that's apparently being solved by the engineering boffins, but I also have this unrelated Address Book problem. When I start typing an email address in the "To:" slot, Thunderbird completes the address since it can see it in the Address Book (but I can't). Then it jumbles the address and inserts it into the To: field. But, since the address is jumbled, it doesn't work. I have no idea that the address is jumbled. It looks something like this when Thunderbird is finished with it: "TestPerson@gmail.comtestperson@gmail.com"

Deleting and restoring the profile makes no difference, also exporting/importing the contents of the Address Book as an .ldif file makes no difference. I've asked this question before, but got no help, so I'm trying again.

My Address Book doesn't stay sorted. I have to view/sort on "Email" every time I need to access it. Then, and only then, can I find an email address. I have to do this EVERY time I send an email. After I return to Thunderbird, the email addresses are jumbled again. FWIW, I've deleted the address book from the Profile, and re-imported it. But this makes no difference.
