Usenet formatting error: exceeds 79 characters
I use TB to carry out usenet access This has been working fine for a number of years. - so not an account issue
2 weeks ago had to do a clean install of W7 OS and thus new install of TB (ver 31.2.0)
It reads usenet threads OK, and creates posts OK .. The issue is when you do a 'Follow up' post in a thread. What happens is that the original mail changes so that text has no line Line Breaks ... i.e. really long lines of text It only changes when you click on 'Follow Up', and you can see the original text go longer than visible window.
If you try to send it fails with error that .... line length is greater than 79 characters. If you do a select all and then CTRL+R it will reformat and will send OK, most of the time (seems to fail if URL would need to be split)
Looks like something has changed in default newsreader (others seeing it as well)
I took a look and can't find a line wrap setting ..... anybody advise ?
Chosen solution
You can try setting plain_text.wrap_long_lines to true and see if it makes any difference, although some users report it does not.
Perhaps you could look at the message source (Ctrl-U) for the affected messages and try to find out the software used to compose the message (X-Mailer header). It may very well be a bug in the new TB, but I'm not qualified to say for sure.

The problem may be due more to the formatting flaws of the software used to compose the original message; see the 2nd paragraph here:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Plain_text_e-mail_(Thunderbird)#Flowed_format
You should check that all your 'wrap' settings are correct, using Tools/Options/Advanced/General/Config. editor, but in the end the only workaround may be the one you are already using, i.e. Ctrl-R.
settings there are:
are default (and as attached)
should the 4th option plain_text.wrap_long_lines; false be set to True ??
This was never a problem previously ... only stated happening when I did a new install ... others are also seeing same problem

Just looked at one that failed today ... says PATH is google groups
I tried setting option to TRUE no diff ... also tried it on the 'view_source' as well .. no change
If this is (or could be) a bug in latest ver of Newsreader ... are they picked up from this forum, or do you have to report bugs separate ?
A few people have commented they had the same problem and have rolled back to ver 28 Though there are others using ver 312 who do not see the problem.
I can post full header for ones that fail if someone Technical is reading this
If a newsgroup posting has been made through the web interface, rather than with a newsreader or email program, the wrapping issue might be caused by the poster's web browser.
If you think it's a bug, and can provide STR (steps to reproduce), the appropriate forum is Bugzilla. Use the search mechanism to first try and see if the issue has already been submitted.
Raised it as a bug, also had people reproduce this on MozzilaZine
