Hi there, After installing my new Dell PC with Windows 8.1, I wanted to start using Thunderbird as my emailprogram. I have downloaded the 31.6 version.

However, it seems to me that the email performance is extremely slow. Sending and downloading emails is alright, but switching from one email to the next one in inbox takes up to 20 seconds! Deleting emails, same thing! In both cases I get the message 'TB does not respond'. Switching between my two accounts is also a frustrating proces, as that takes even longer.

Pleae, who ca help me out by telling me what I have done wrong? Many thanks in advance. Kind regards, Haico

Dell PCs seem to come with McAfee security/anti-virus software pre-installed, and if this applies to your system, it's recommended to stop McAfee from scanning mail folders:
