After using RegCure -- a big mistake -- I only receive text on websites on Firefox Nightly, such as CNN and New York Times. But the pages are not functional. They won't take me to articles. Any ideas how to fix. I have done several system restores without success. Thank you.

Try to clear both cookies and the cache. If that does not help, try Firefox Safe Mode. Let us know how you are doing.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
  2. Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
  3. Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
  4. From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
  5. Now click the Clear now button.

Further information can be found in the Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox article.

Hopefully the above will take care of it.

I'm not sure what the registry cleaner removed, but you might be able to restore any entries created by the Firefox installer by running the installer again. This shouldn't affect your personal settings, but a backup is never a bad idea.

I was so happy to see that doing as you suggested fixed the problem. Rather than the Details, I had to go to Privacy but that cleaned out cookies and cache. I was thinking of rebooting the system, so I appreciate the steps you saved me.

I couldn't delete Firefox Nightly to even restore another version. Since the above problem is fixed for now, I think I will wait and see. Maybe a system reboot is a good idea down the line. Thank you all for your kind and very good help.

I had an issue with my Win 7 Microsoft Security Essentials. Windows update would download the upgrade, but the upgrade could not install. After many hours of searching help sites and web search engines, I finally found out what the problem was. Somehow, Windows lost the install information file. And without those files.......
Go to Fix problems that programs cannot be installed or uninstalled and check it out. I ended up using the Fix-It program to manually remove the programs. Don't forget to first download the current Firefox first.
