Firefox opens to a blank tab and not my home page.
After recently modifying my User Chrome to fix what a recent update had apparently done to my Search Engine Menu, Firefox started opening to a blank tab and not my home page. It says it is "performing a TLS handshake" to my home page's URL, then quickly times out. If I keep that window open and open another Firefox window, the new window opens to my home page. I searched for a fix, but most of them are for earlier versions of Firefox and what I've looked at so far, everything seems to be in order. I cannot say my recent modification to the User Chrome caused it, but I only really noticed it after I made the change. That said, I pasted the old code back and to see if it had any effect, it did not, and so I put the new code back in place.
Thank you. Sorry for the fuss.

I would assume that it is isn't possible that userChrome.css could cause this to happen, but you have a lot of code in the file and also have a lot of extensions.
It could be related to updating to Firefox 70.
You can start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
- do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

Thank you cor-el.
I'm already using the default theme. I started in safe mode and am still having the same issue.
I looked in Options thinking perhaps something ticked off, it has happened before, but as near as I can tell, on start up & new windows should open to my home page. Tabs to fave sites.
That said, I toggled on Restore Previous Sessions.
Having several tabs open, I closed them, expecting that when I opened the browser again, all tabs would be restored.
They were not, however, the new window seem stifled, that is to say there was nothing about a specific page being loaded, and then suddenly my home page popped up.
This may or may not be a fix/work around. Not quite sure what to make of it except that the new window does open to my home page after a little lag time, but I'm not entirely sure it's doing what it's supposed to be doing.
Thank you, nonetheless.
