Why can't I have a home page like Opera's (where favorite websites can be accessed w/o need to enter URL address?

To reiterate, after reading up on your browser I thought I would give it a shot. Tell me if it's possible to have a home page that I can populate with 'icons' of my favorite websites which would make it unnecessary to type their addresses into the URL field, e.g. http://www.whatever.whatever

I managed to override the FF default and enter a web page's address in the Customize URLs box but ....where does it let you add additonal URLs ?

Maybe this article will explain it best :

And also :

I know it's a lot to take in when you first start using Firefox, but you will soon get the hang of it (and love it  !).

Changing the Firefox homepage is possible through the Home tab of the preferences.

Use the menu at the top right of Firefox (the three-lined stack) to open Options.
Click/tap Home on the left-hand side.
Locate the Homepage and new windows settings on the right side of the page, under the New Windows and Tabs heading.
From the drop-down menu, choose Custom URLs....
There are three ways to set the homepage in Firefox:
In the blank space, paste or type a URL.
Grab one or more websites from the Use Current Pages button. This is how you can set multiple homepages in Firefox.
Select a bookmark via the Use Bookmark... option.

You could also use the Bookmarks Toolbar.

Don't know if this was implicit or not in my initial but writing in terms of Opera once more: it lets you have the ability to easily switch from your home/first page/opened to second and tertiary websites by clicking on a tab (as I think/recollect). I've managed to get FF to do my bidding wrt opening to my preferred home page; at this point, it would be nice to have it mirror Opera in the aforesaid way a bit - not absolutely necessary, but nice.

Hello Justakin,

How I interpret your question :

You would like your Homepage to be the New Tab page (with all your Top Sites) ....... (?)

If I'm right - you could copy the New Tab page's URL and use it to set your Homepage : Options => Home

Sort of helpful - I'm a brand new user of FF so these otherwise sound suggestions/proposals need to be fleshed out a bit (i.e. elaborated on in a more linear fashion for a beginner). I do appreciate the bandwidth.

Assuming that your last post was directed at me; let me see if I can explain things a little bit :

This is what the New Tab page is all about :

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/customize-new-tab-page

Now, if this is the page you would want to see when you start Firefox (and every time you click on the home icon at the left side of the address bar) :

When you're on the New Tab page, you could e.g. copy the URL, and then use that URL to set it as your home page - go to the 3-bar menu => Options => Home

Also see : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-to-set-the-home-page

Does that help  ?

If this is what you are referring to :

https://help.opera.com/en/latest/start-page/

You might like Firefox's home page even better .....

I didn't say yes, yet, because it requires further information i think.
