I updated on 01/23/2018. Now every tab is its own process. This takes up to many resources. I am an accountant/office manager/payroll/personnel/etc and already have to deal with QuickBooks and multiple excel workbooks eating up resources. I normally have 6 tabs open in Firefox for the links I use multiple times a day, internal internet locations, bank, payroll, aol mail (one of our officers), travel agency.
I have tried the following, neither solved problem: Type about:config into the address bar, press Enter, accept the warning. Out this in the Search field at the top browser.tabs.remote.autostart . Double-click that preference in the reduced listing that is below the Search field to toggle the 'Value' from True to False. I also toggled all browser.tabs.remote to False.
Now, every time I click a link in an email, a new browser is spawned. This also happens if I click a link on some web pages.
How do I get FireFox to be one process and one browser.

hi, you can control the number of content processes for tabs in the performance settings: Firefox's performance settings

This solved the process problem.
Did not solve problem of new browser spawning from links.
Also, how do I get just one Firefox icon showing in my tool bar instead of one from each window.
i guess those two might be the options "Open links in tabs instead of new windows" & "show tab previews in windows taskbar" in the firefox menu ≡ > options > general panel...
Thank You Verrrrry Much. This solved all of my problems.
Just have to love new releases.
The thoughts of updating from EXCEL 2010 terrifies me. I have completely personalized the ribbon and have many macros and shortcut keys.
