how to delete or disable awesome bar

delete or disable awesome bar

delete or disable awesome bar

Chosen solution

I wonder if all you have done is enabled viewing of the Bookmarks toolbar, that will list any bookmarks or folders it has along the top of the browser but normally underneath the address and search bar, although it is possible to move the content Bookmark items to other locations such as between the search and address bar or even in between tabs ! Or you can hide the toolbar. For full instructions with screenshots please see

It may be better if you describe what the problems are you are having.

The Awesome Bar is a fancy marketing name for the addressbar, and it is usually fairly essential to have that when using Firefox. Are you using Firefox in a specialist role as a Kiosk for instance, or just do not like the information the Awesome bar displays ?

my awesome bar shows many of my bookmarks continually without typing. Even when I open a new tab they are there already (clear across and below the address bar) without any typing. Please tell me how to stop this or how to do away with the awesome bar completely.

This just started in the last few days without any Firefox update. I had this problem over a year ago and forget how I disabled the awesome bar. Thanks for your time and response!

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Is the problem still there?

Thanks John99,

I followed the first/top link and that fixed the problem. I haven't a clue as to how it got changed to start with, as there haven't been any updates or downloads done for a week to 10 days.

Except,,,, I was just thinking. A few months ago I updated to Windows 10 (from Windows 7) and while with Windows 7, I also had Waterfox that I used all the time. When the Windows 10 replaced Windows 7, I still had Waterfox listed in the Windows 10 menu and still use it half the time. Two days before the bookmark problem started my computer did get a Windows 10 update. Maybe that had something to do with it, or maybe not.

But Thank You again, Jeff

FredMcD,

In safe mode the thing straightened up, but as soon as I went back to regular mode the bookmarks were back under the address bar. I had AdBlocker, FluffBuster (for Facebook) and Microsofts screen shot (Beta) as add ons. I deleted them and the problem didn't go away. I

I just tried John99's suggestion and it worked. I want to Thank You for your time and response, Jeff
