How do I turn off "bookmarks" bouncing star?

When I first saw the bouncing star, it was interesting. From then on it has become increasingly irritating. Now I am leaving Firefox, after a decade of loyal use, replacing Google as my primary browser.

Create a "disable" feature for that obnoxious star and I'll return.

You can look at the Classic Theme Restorer extension to restore some functionality that was lost with the arrival of the Australis style in Firefox 29.

  • You can find extra toolbar buttons and more toolbar settings in Customize (3-bar Firefox menu button > Customize)
  • You can check out the settings of the CTR extension via its Options/Preferences button on the "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" page.

There is a check box in the Special 2 tab to disable the Bookmarking animation

Even Microsoft got rid of their stupid "Paperclip". I always thought that Firefox was a serious browser. It is very juvenile to put in such silly animations without even giving a means to turn them off.

Your suggestion made it worse... lol. Now I have much more animation and, after three attempts, will not turn off. Even deleted and reloaded three X, but will not cooperate when I uncheck animation box?? I'm just going to set Google as my main page.

Adios Firefox

Note that this thread is about the animation that you see if you bookmark the current tab by clicking the star on the location bar (the star gets blue and you get the star moving to the folder icon next to it).

In case you are talking about the animation on the about:home page, then try this:

If you prefer not to see snippets on the about:home page then you can set the browser.aboutHomeSnippets.updateUrl pref to an empty string on the about:config page. Delete the storage\moz-safe-about+home folder in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed ("3-bar" Firefox menu button > Exit/Quit) to remove snippets stored in IndexedDB and make Firefox use a default snippet set. You can reset the browser.aboutHomeSnippets.updateUrl pref to the default value to re-enable the snippets.
