Please try to launch the browser in safe mode [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-sa...] or see if there are other reports with a crash reason? this will be really helpful for the bug, thank you!
it's the same thing happens to me
other reports few days ago are the same with my problem, firefox is going to fix?
Lauradyu,
Sorry this may be a little difficult but please try to read this then try the steps I suggest.
I see you have a problem with Crashes. There is no point in however just repeating that statement. The Crash Report that you provided us with an ID for is unfortunately not of much help. This is not your fault, but we are going to need your help in trying to fix your problem.
Nearly all crashes are due to faults with the Firefox installation or environment not with Firefox itself. So if you just ignore it it will probably not get fixed.
If necessary use Internet Explorer (IE) whilst Firefox is being fixed. If it crashes within a few minutes it is not going to be good to use. Remember you can read these inks and posts with IE.
Try these First steps at trying to fix a crash
We are starting from scratch, trying to get Firefox working without crashing, and getting it working properly later. Order of steps
- Create a new clean profile. I suggest you name it New-12-2013
- Do a clean reinstall, note you delete the program files NOT the profile files
- Start Windows in Windows safemode (F8 key when booting)
- Start Firefox in Firefox's Safe Mode edit using the new profile
- Post back with how you got on and we will explain what to do next
- If it does still crash please paste a couple of new crash reports into your reply
1 New Profile
This often works even when Firefox crashes. Just move on to the next step if you can not get this to work
- Follow these instructions Profile Manager - Create, remove or switch Firefox profiles#w_creating-a-profile
- Accept the location given, and choose a name. Note good safe practice is: only use an empty profile, never nest within another profile. Do not rename or delete any profile.(Ask on the forum first)
2 Clean Reinstall
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a Clean reinstall. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
- Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
- After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
- Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
- C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
- Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
- Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
- Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
3 Start in Windows SafeMode
You only need to start in the plain safe mode initially and that is safer. You will need to use Safe Mode with networking once you need to test Firefox properly.
- see http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/boot_failsafe.mspx
4 Start in Firefox's Safe mode edit using your new profile
- Hold down the shift key when clicking the Firefox icon
- see Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode
5 Did it work ?
- Please post back with how you got on ?
- Please paste half a dozen new crash report ID s into your reply if it is still crashing ?
- Did you manage all those steps ?
- If it is working we need to get it back to normal next. Take a well deserved rest whilst waiting for us to get back to you.
Thanks, John
Forum Note Often empty string Crashes are the number one top Crash Signature, and usually near meaningless for troubleshooting. It shows something went badly wrong. Maybe there was a memory issue and the crash reporting procedure could not complete.
Modified
Lauradyu,
P.S.
- I added a small a but critical step to the suggestions, starinting the clean profile.
- I initially added then deleted a suggestion to start a new tread. My mistake. I thought someone else was posting in your thread.
I hope you have found the forum thread and are not just working from emails.
- This is the link to the forum https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/979472
Unfortunately the crash ID that you posted here and in the other thread have an [@ EMPTY] signature, so there is no data available that would make it possible to tell something about the cause of the crash.
See these articles for some common steps for issues with crashes:
