how do I get Internet Explorer out of my firefox installation?
I have tried to delete internet explorer and there seems to still be an .exe file I cannot find to delete.
I installed firefox and have already set it as my default browser, cleared my cache and cookies of all thing (most) things IE. Still firefox comes up first, followed by a full screen take-over by MSN, with a banner at the top that says, "Replace Firefox with Internet Explorer, its faster and safer".
My choice is Firefox, I tried MSN and can't stand the tabloid any more. Please, help me.
Thank you, Evelyn

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
- Microsoft Safety Scanner
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- TDSSKiller - AntiRootkit Utility
- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Firefox > Options > General ... what is your homepage setup as ?
Your "More system details" shows your home page is set to MSN. If you prefer a different home page, check out this article: How to set the home page. Does that help?
P.S. Don't completely remove IE, as you may need it for some sites that only use proprietary Microsoft technologies, like Windows Update.
I tried to delete IE and got a warning to the effect that it was a part of Windows 7 and if deleted could cause other things in Windows not to work. You can, however, delete MSN, although it seems to come back whenever a change is made (crazy).
Well, thank you
Each of you. Used a tad from everyone above, really!
Went to the first troubleshoot link, read up and decided to risk reset. Cleaned data for a lonnng time... Lost my history and bookmarks but worth it.
Won't fiddle with that funky IE.exe file, that's for sure, Kittymama
and following the other advice I'm resetting my homepage now, and will NOT delete that snake.exe wrapped around my Windows7.
Again, THANKS, Evelyn
Hi mind2live, you shouldn't have lost your bookmarks. Do you have the Old Firefox Data folder on your desktop (this should be created by the Reset feature). To restore your bookmarks, see the steps in the following article. On the Restore menu, you can "Choose File" and dig into the Old Firefox Data\bookmarkbackups folder.
Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer
