Weird graphical glitches on meebo.com in OSX?

Meebo is a web based IM site that allows you to use AIM, GChat, etc. When I use it with Firefox in Windows, it works perfectly fine. When I use it in OSX, I get odd graphics issues. Individual chat boxes lose their frames, the text gets highlighted or sometimes disappears.

It works perfectly fine in Firefox 8 for Windows in XP, Vista and Win7 while it is glitchy in OSX Lion and Snow Leopard.

Can you attach a screenshot?

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot and make sure that you do not exceed the maximum file size (1 MB).

If you have increased the minimum font size then try the default setting "none" as a high value can cause such issues.

  • Firefox > Preferences > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Minimum Font Size (none)

Make sure that you allow websites to choose their fonts.

  • Firefox > Preferences > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"

Here is a screen shot that I've modified to protect the innocent. :)

So, meebo has a bunch of chat windows that are within the page. It seems like the display corruption happens when they're blinking (happens when you get a message). The left window is perfectly fine. The middle one has the entire frame of the window disappear. The right one has half of the window disappear, though the user's avatar is still there, as is the resize thingy at the bottom right.

By the way, I've verified that both font settings are setup as you've mentioned.

Anyone? Anyone? Beuller?

I really prefer Firefox to Chrome because of a few extensions, but I'm getting pretty tired of this. I'll probably just switch to Chrome and suck it up.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Tried that and had the same issue. It is weird that it is the only site where I see that problem.
