Firefox 7.0.1 on windows 7 pro & gmail. Up till recently I could click on an email address on a webpage and it would open a new message window where I could send a message. Now this does not work. Tried turning it off in "tools-options-applications" then reloading Firefox and then turning it back on. Still does not work.

Have you set up a default mail client? Firefox sends out a system call to the default email software, and if the operating system has none, that will not work.
