  Just setting up new LG Gram laptop,

I have only a dumb flip phone, no email on that, no qr code reader. traveling with laptop, only on line email to get verification code. You state sms is not secure for receiving security code. Yet, many other sites do use a sms code to confirm login.

Unfortunately this is a organization with limited resources and doesn't provided sms options. Your either email reset code or QR smartphone scan.
