Do you have the Restore previous session option in the Firefox settings page checked?
Restore previous session is unchecked.
It's possible that maybe Firefox is detecting that it's crashing when you close it. Try going to the
about:config page in Firefox and try setting to the
browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash preference to
false and see if after a couple times opening and closing Firefox the issue goes away.
I do recommend changing the setting back to
true when you are done testing, that way Firefox can restore your session if it actually does crash.
Most users also have the
browser.sessionstore.resuming_after_os_restart preferences set to
Note that if you shutdown Windows while Firefox is still open that your session is restored automatically.
Use one of these to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the Firefox Title bar.
- "3-bar" menu button -> Exit (Power button)
- Windows: File -> Exit
- Mac: Firefox -> Quit Firefox
- Linux: File -> Quit
I have tried these before but did again and same result. Does not matter how long I leave it closed when it starts up it goes back to the last page viewed. I can leave my laptop off for a few days and when I strat up it goes back to last page viewed.
You can check for problems with the sessionstore.jsonlz4 file in the Firefox profile folder that stores session data.
- delete sessionstore.jsonlz4 and sessionstore.js
When sessionstore.jsonlz4 is deleted you lose pinned tabs and open tabs and you will have to recreate them, so if necessary make a note or bookmark them. sessionstore.jsonlz4 is only present in the Firefox profile folder when Firefox is closed.
You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
- Help -> Troubleshooting Information -> Profile Folder/Directory:
Windows: Open Folder; Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder
I have tried this and no change
