Multiple account errors (sending with one account Gmail, receiving with the other Roadrunner)
As of a week ago I now have 2 different errors for 2 different accounts linked to Thunderbird. These sprung up with zero change on my end other than moving.
My socal.rr.com (roadrunner account), now gives me the following error anytime I check for mail. "the current operation on 'inbox' did not suceed. The mail server for account xxxx@socal.rr.com resonded: Unrecognized command: ID."
My gmail account on the other hand is giving me the following error anytime I try to send mail. "Sending of the message failed: The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.gmail.com timed out. Try again."
I have to save a draft of the Email, then reopen thunderbird and resend in order for each Email to actually go through without experiencing this error of the outgoing time out.
Any help would be appreciated. I updated Thunderbird to 68.4.2 with zero change. I've double checked the port, server settings, etc. All correct. I've removed outgoing virus check, still Gmail error. I've compacted the folders, still errors. These all worked a week ago before I moved addresses. Could it be something since I'm with a new internet provider? Thanks in advance for the help!

You road runner issue is a poorly configured mail server at spectrum. there is a setting change here that will fix that https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1275339?page=3#answer-1285927
The second issue sounds like your anti virus might be dropping the ball in sending mail. Try disabling any outgoing mail checking. it is completely useless anyway.

Matt, thank you for the help. I followed the directions to the link you attached for Spectrum and changed the "mail.server.default.send_client_info" to false. This worked like a charm.
My Gmail this morning is working randomly. So far every mail I've sent hasn't timed out. However, I had already turned off "outgoing mail" in my virus check so I'm not sure what has changed that may have solved this issue overnight. Perhaps gremlins. Thank you again for your help. I'll keep my fingers crossed the Gmail solution sticks.
