New Firefox download is requiring mobile phone number?? How can I avoid this or do I need to switch browsers?

Firefox doesn't require a phone number. After signing into Firefox Sync, you may get a screen asking you to enter a phone number so that you can download Firefox on your mobile device. All it does is send you a text message with the link to download Firefox, making it more convenient for you.
However, this step is entirely optional and you can skip it.
