Bing is unusually slow on firefox and Reddit has cookie problems

more options

All right, basically, I have one big problem and one smaller problem. The big one is that firefox is really slow to load bing, pages taking upwards of 30 seconds to load fully, and most of the time the page loads, and then it buffers and buffers while it loads the rest of it (like the rewards thingy, and my profile icon, and the options)

I've tried disabling plugins, and nothing works. Also, on Reddit, my RES subreddit list and my never-ending-reddit thing both never work and they tell me to add firefox to the cookie exceptions and while I did, that doesn't work either.

And I don't think my Ryzen 5 or GTX 1070 or 32GB of ram or SSD could have a part in this...

Ugh I think it's either HTTPSeverywhere, Ghostery, or Lastpass, I might swap to this, but I gotta go to bed so goodnight for now

Hi, so you tried disabling them please do it this way :

Try Firefox Safe Mode to TEST & see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:

  • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click Help Help-29 and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:

  • On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
  • On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".

SafeMode-Fx35

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.

Aw man... it worked fine in safe mode, I've gone and messed it up somewhere down the line :(

Okay, so I turned hardware acceleration off, and I set the other thing to "7" since I have 32GB of ram and firefox can have as much memory as it wants.

It's.... sort of fixed, now, bing loads faster, kinda, it doesn't seem to shudder so much, but it still takes a while to load the stuff at the top and stuff like video previews, but that might just be how bing is.

I'm going to bed now, so tomorrow perhaps I'll mess with the addons again and see if any of them are to blame!

Or, since I have a huge load of plugins, maybe you guys can tell if one of these will mess with bing or not...

Of course the image didn't send

HI, no we can not. That is the idea of you running in Safe Mode and performing trouble shooting with your Extensions. Turn them all off. If still issue Turn off Hardware Acceleration to see. If no issue, Update your Video Card Drivers. If no issues with them all turned off slowly turn them all on 1 by 1 until you find the one or two that are causing the issue.

If you can not find out which one is causing the issue, then : Profile : Make a new one and test ...:

All right, I'll copy all of my open tabs and disable everything to see what is causing it... but how could my profile be causing this?

Okay. I got it. Without "Lastpass" enabled, it loads in four seconds, with lastpass enabled, it takes over twice as long... I had a lot of logins for bing so I deleted some duplicates but it's still slow, ugh, I need lastpass

Okay! I moved to bitwarden instead of lastpass and removed a few extra plugins like the amazon one, and while bing is somewhat slower with everything enabled, no more freezing and so on. These are what I have now and I suppose I'm good? :)
