Bing continues to set itself as my default browser search engine, despite removing it from the options. Whenever I reset firefox it comes back.

I've tried, uninstalling, deleting the folder, restarting, doing a disc clean-up + system file clean-up, and reinstalling. Didn't work.

I tried scanning my system with: Norton, Malwarebytes, AdwCleaner, SuperAntiSpyware, Microsoft Safety Scanner, Windows Defender, and Spybot Search and Destroy, which cleaned a lot out of my system, but Bing continues to force itself onto my browser.

I hate bing, and I hate how it's being forced into my browser. I want it GONE, PERMANANTLY.

Chosen solution

Does the problem search engine show up on the Options page, default search engine setting, as Bing or Bing Search Engine?

The one named "Bing" is built in; the other one appears to be malware with an unusual method of attack. If you have it, see: Firefox will not stop changing search provider from Google to "Bing Search Engine" (Not standard "Bing"!)

I was finally able to resolve the issue.

Going into C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\pref C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\pref I discovered dsengine.js

After deleting it the issue was resolved.

I have no idea how it got there, or why NONE of the antivirus and antimalware software could find it, but the issue is now resolved.

Thank you everyone for your direction and support in the matter!
