I am having significant problems getting Firefox to work with ESET Password Manager. Firefox will not open and websites will not open. Please help or call ESET.
Last week I was on the phone with ESET (I have a Premium subscription) and I had their Password Manager activated. After it was installed Firefox would not open. On occasion I could get it to open but then none of the websites in my favorites folder or any other folder (including my email - Sonic.net) would not open and and it would also give me an error message that said another Firefox session was open and that one had to be closed. The problem with this was that no other Firefox session was open.
After working with two tekkies (my word - my spelling) at ESET I have gotten this far - If I open Firefox (which is my default browser system setting) and then minimize it I can then open any of my folders, email etc by going to my desktop and opening them there. But this is not a proper operation in my view and to me it doesn't make sense. And now I am wondering - since I have set up ESET Password Manager do I have to give my Firefox browser a password and if that is the case how do I do that. What I mean by that last question is - is there a particular place inside of Firefox where I need to go to set up a username and password.

Hello,
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).
If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:
- Click the menu button
, click Help
and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.
If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
- On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
- On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
- On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".
If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.
To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.
Also, no, shouldn't have to give Firefox a password and username to access your password manager application, if that's what you mean?

I'm not sure I understand this. You launch Firefox and minimize it, then you use shortcuts to specific websites on the desktop and those launch okay? But if you try to access the same sites from within an existing Firefox window, you can't load them?

In Firefox, you may be prompted for a "Master Password" to unlock Firefox's internal password manager. This pops up at the point that Firefox wants to use one of your saved logins, which could be on a particular website or, if you set up Firefox Sync, 10-30 seconds after opening. If you never created a Master Password, then this is not an issue.
Anyway, I don't know if ESET Password Manager can handle the popup dialog for the Master Password, or only forms in web pages...
