I use firefox. Just updated trying to solve this problem, but nothing changed. Yesterday, shockwave flash player worked just fine. But I just tried playing a game, but the only thing that happened was that the window froze and a little window popped up that said something like "Shockwave Flash may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the plugin now, or you can continue to see if the plugin will complete."

I stop, reload, close then reload firefox, and this still happens. when I went to https://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/, the little movie that tells you what version you have just says this plugin is disabled. Manage plugins. I click that and the list of my plugins pops up. In that list, shockwave flash appears to be working the way it should.

I went to Chrome and tried the games I usually play, and they and shockwave flash seem to work just fine. But since the game progress is saved in your browser, all my games are put back at level 1 on Chrome.

I have no idea what's going on. Shockwave was working perfectly yesterday. I haven't changed anything about my computer since last night when shockwave was working. I haven't installed anything new. It's just today....shockwave doesn't want to work in Firefox...even after updating Firefox.

That's the test page for Adobe Shockwave, which is a different plugin (see https://helpx.adobe.com/shockwave/kb/shockwave-player-faq.html for details). It's easy to confuse the two because the Flash plugin is shown as Shockwave Flash in the Add-ons manager Plugins list.

Here are two test pages for Flash: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html

For more help with Flash and directions for updating to the latest version, see: Flash Plugin - Keep it up to date and troubleshoot problems

I'm not trying to update flash that youtube uses. I'm trying to fix Shockwave Flash, which doesn't work. It just shows me a box that says the plugin isn't working.

For the error, "Shockwave Flash may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the plugin now, or you can continue to see if the plugin will complete." ... see this article: Warning Unresponsive plugin - What it means and how to fix it.

If the article doesn't help, please post a link to some of the game websites where you see this error so that others with the current version of Flash (Version 24.0.0.186). can test it.

In case you did not get it, Shockwave Flash and Flash Player refers to the same Plugin. If it has the word Flash in name then it is the Flash Player.

Shockwave (for director) Player is a different Plugin.

Youtube actually uses the HTML5 player by default when possible and may use the Flash Player as a fallback. Any sites using HTML5 player does not need the Flash Player plugin to work https://www.youtube.com/html5/

The versions in below image is old but it shows what each Flash Player and Shockwave (for director) Player is in the Plugins panel of Addons manager.
