Firefox randomly stops loading web pages
I am having an issue with Firefox.
I can be browsing the web, and very randomly web sites will stop loading. There is nothing wrong with my connection, I can use a different browser, and sites load fine.
I have had this issue for the last two months or so, currently using version 49.0.2.
I have backed up my profile, completely uninstalled firefox, re-installed and I am still having this problem.
All it takes is to shut down firefox and restart it again, however this is incredibly frustrating if i am logged into a site, like internet banking and so on.
Anything i can try to fix this ?

That must be so annoying and frustrating !
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).
If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:
- Click the menu button , click Help and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.
If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
- On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
- On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
- On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".
If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.
To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.
Thank you Happy for the reply.
Since your posting, i have been experimenting with the suggestions indicated above.
The issue does not seem to be present in Safe Mode, so I have tried the alternatives listed.
Sadly none have seemed to have fixed the issue.
The problem is so intermittent, Firefox can be working fine for a few days, and then the problem presents itself again.
As I mentioned previously, I had only started having the problem approx 2-3 months ago which makes me think that there is an issue with one of the Firefox upgrades during this time.
Thank you again Happy for the time you spent replying to my query. Cheers.
