Cannot log on to Facebook - receive Malware message when I try to

more options

Earlier today, I was bumped out of Facebook and asked to log on in order to continue. Whenever I try to log on, I receive the attached message. I have anti-virus running constantly and have also run Malwarebytes in an attempt to clear. So far, nothing has helped. I don't have the problem using IE.

exactly the same problem and on Apple/Safari as well.

Chrome - FB login successful IE - FB login successful but Mozilla Firefox V 46.0... fails with the Malware Removal message. I have contacted Facebook with this issue. Already have multiple Malware scanners in place all were run without incident. even downloaded and ran FB recommended malware scanner still get the malware removal message when attempting to login.

Updated & ran Malwarebytes Update & ran Spybot installed and ran f-secure online scanner deleted all cookies deleted all browser history disabled all firefox add-ins uninstalled and re-installed Firefox, logged into FB and disabled all apps in FB. WINVER: Windows 10 Version 1511 Build 10586.218

Hello there,

I would recommend running a full system scan with Malwarebytes and remove and possible malware/viruses from your system.

Furthermore you can go ahead and clear your cookies and cache and see if the issue still persists.

Hope this helps!

Thank you, Machine Master. I have done all you suggested already. I ran Malwarebytes, scanned for virus, and also ran Ccleaner - cleared all cookies and cache. I uninstalled and reinstalled Mozilla Firefox and that has not resolved the problem. I am only having the problem on my laptop and not on my PC. Do you have any further suggestions?

Can you attach a screenshot?

  • Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot
  • Make sure that you do not exceed the maximum size of 1 MB

Clear the Cache and remove the Cookies from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove the Cookies" from websites that cause problems.

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History > Show All History" or "View > Sidebar > History") or via the about:permissions page.

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, history, cookies, passwords, cache, and exceptions, so be cautious. If you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the involved files.

If you revisit a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.

Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

I appreciate your suggestions.

I have already cleared my cache and removed ALL cookies. I'm not having an issue with any browser except Mozilla Firefox and to continue wasting hours of time trying to follow all of your suggestions above is more than I'm willing to do. At this point, I will not use Mozilla Firefox any longer.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support to see if that has effect in case security or other software is causing problems.

I did this and it was no help.

Can you right-click in this window and possibly open the Inspector via Inspect Element?

Yes, Cor-el - I am able to right click and open Inspector via Inspect Element. However, I haven't a clue what to do from there. Any further help would be appreciated.
