I'm having difficulty ... the same time I installed Firefox, I upgraded to Windows 10. Ever since then, nothing is the same. I'm a disabled old lady who has learned how to extract from the computer what I need ... I learned on manual typewriters with carbon paper and onionskins (shaking your head? try adapting to converse with techies!!!).

I need some simple answers to simple questions, just would like to work this out with someone patient cause techies have their own language. Anyone out there willing to help?

Hi there.

Firefox should not have the capacity to disable antivirus software - it is usually the other way around, with antivirus interfering and blocking Firefox.

Where and how are you seeing Kaspersky being disabled? Is it the Firefox add-on that is disabled (grey in Firefox's Plugins or Extensions view)? It should inform you if the plugin is out of date and disabled for compatibility reasons (i.e. it may not work correctly even if enabled).

This will disable add-on signature enforcement; Enter about:config into your Firefox address bar Click the I'll be careful button Find xpinstall.signatures.required in the list Right click the preference Select Toggle until the value is false https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/add-on-signing-in-firefox

carbon paper and onionskins level information.

Contact Kaspersky and ask them why their add-ons for Firefox aren't compatible with Firefox.

IMO, those add-ons are purely simple features that provide no real security for the user. Usually just a duplication of features that are already built into Firefox; and just a different source for data which is updated frequently to warn users about unsafe websites.

Real "security" can't be disabled by a program such as Firefox, which has far less "privilege" as to what it is allowed to do.

I've got to find out what an add-on is ...

Add-ons are options you install into Firefox, They can be remove at will. Plugins are from programs that Firefox finds already on your system.

Add-ons is a general term that groups together the separate Extensions, Plugins, Themes (complete+image), search engines, dictionaries, language packs.

People sometimes mistakenly refer to Addons as equaling Extensions only.
