After Windows 10 upgrade, middle button doesn´t open a new tab
A few days ago, my computer upgraded to Windows 10 (without asking for a confirmation).
After that, firefox doesn't open a new tab when click the middle button on a link, it just doesn't do anything.
I checker browser.tabs.opentabfor.middleclick and middlemouse.openNewWindow and both are true.
Any advise?
Cheers

Fixed!!
It was not a Firefox problem, but it was nearly the only application where I use the middle button.
The upgrade process changed the functionality of the middle button and assigned its middle click to open a pre-installed application :-( Cheers

Hi JD, the issue you had sounds a lot like mine. Like you both of those booleans are true, but a taskbar middle-click does nothing...
Your fix sounds promising, but I do not follow how you fixed it. Could you elaborate?
Thanks a lot!
Open your pointer control page and check the settings.
Hi FredMcD,
I am using Windows 10 on my desktop. When I go to Control Panel > Mouse...I do not see anything about the functionality of the middle button being assigned "to open a pre-installed application," as JD is talking about...
Could you help me find that setting? Thanks!
I do not know what software your system is using.

Ok, I am sorry. I am not sure I follow.
The software controlling my mouse is Windows 10 Home 64-bit?
Maybe I can approach my problem from a different angle. If I right-click on Firefox in the taskbar, a context menu appears.
"Close window" works. "Pin this program to taskbar" works. "Firefox" opens a new window.
There are three options that do not seem to work: "Open new tab", "Open new window", and "New private window."
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) to see if that helps.
Hi cor-el, I tried your suggestion but had no luck. I might resort to reinstalling Firefox altogether...
