000webhost.com keeps highjacking my connection when I try to pull up Craigslist. How do I defeat this?
Problem started this morning and continues. Whenever I go to craigslist.org I wind up at 000webhost.com. Need a means to defeat/block 000webhost.com.

Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause Firefox issues. Disable All of them.
Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache.
- Clear the Cache and
- Remove Cookies Warning ! ! This will log you out of sites you're logged in to.
Type about:preferences<Enter> in the address bar.
- Cookies; Select Privacy. Under History, select Firefox will Use Custom Settings. Press the button on the right side called Show Cookies. Use the search bar to look for the site. Note; There may be more than one entry. Remove All of them.
- Cache; Select Advanced > Network. Across from Cached Web Content, Press Clear Now.
If there is still a problem, Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode;
Type about:preferences#advanced<Enter> in the address bar.
Under Advanced, Select General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.
Poke around safe web sites. Are there any problems?
Then restart.

This is the only site that goes to an odd location? Are other browers affected? If so, consider any system-level issues, such as:
- Windows hosts file
- Special connection method such as a proxy server, private VPN service, or TOR
- Possible hacked DNS in Windows or in your router
For a Firefox-only issue:
You can check your connection setting in Firefox to make sure it hasn't been modified in an unexpected way:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > Network mini-tab > "Settings" button
The default "Use system proxy settings" should piggyback on your Windows/IE "LAN" settings. You also could try "No proxy" to see whether that works better.
If that isn't it, it could be caused by a bad add-on. This is my suggested clean-up procedure for that:
(1) Open the Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a Program. After the list loads, click the "Installed on" column heading to group the infections, I mean, additions, by date. This can help in smoking out undisclosed bundle items that snuck in with some software you agreed to install. Take out as much trash as possible here.
(2) Open Firefox's Add-ons page using either:
- Ctrl+Shift+a
- "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Plugins. Set nonessential and unrecognized plugins to "Never Activate".
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable (or Remove, if possible) unrecognized and unwanted extensions.
Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
Any improvement?
(3) You can search for remaining issues with the scanning/cleaning tools listed in our support article: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware. These on-demand scanners are free and take considerable time to run. If they finish quickly and especially if they require payment, you may have a serious infection. I suggest the specialized forums listed in the article in that case.
By the way, when I try craigslist.org I get redirected to a "local" site, which is http://sfbay.craigslist.org/
Can you access your local site directly? http://www.craigslist.org/about/sites
BlockSite {web link} BlockSite is an extension, which automagically blocks websites of your choice. Additionally, this extension will disable all hyperlinks to these websites, by just displaying the link text without the clicking functionality.
Are you typing the address, or using a shortcut / bookmark? Make sure they have not been altered.
Only add on recently was an upgrade to my antivirus protection. I went to the plug-ins and then extensions then enabled the update. Can go to Craigslist but now pics do not show and when I go to "view image" I get highjacked back to 000webhost.com. Next?
Not sure you received my suggestions:

Can now go to local craigslist but cannot pull up pics after loading BlockSite. Have disabled Blocksite and still no pics - get highjacked back to 000webhost again.
Forgot to mention I type in craigslist.

Seems to have worked. Will wait until morning to see if it still does before closing out.
Thanks
Update 7:31am CST. Fred McD's input still works. As per his warning, I have to manually log in to favorites (and worth the effort).
Thanks to everyone for the help.
