Since updating to FF 29, I am getting strange, graphical characters in the address bar instead of actual text. I have a screenshot that shows it, but don't see a way to attach it here.

Chosen solution

Yes, it's the RSS Subscribe Icon addon. Disabling it fixed the problem. I'm including a screenshot just so others can recognize the problem.

Could be caused by the RSS Icon 1.0.6 extension.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
