What is gmpopenh264.dll and why do I need it? If I decide I don't need it, how do I remove it?

I think this is a Mozilla product -- automatically downloaded recently. Any info will be hugely appreciated.

hi, this is the openh264 plugin that is part of firefox to provide full compatibility with webrtc - it recently received a security update to version 1.6 (because of licensing issues it is not shipped directly within the firefox program files but gets automatically downloaded shortly after the first launch of the browser).

Thank you very much. I don't do much online video streams -- is it necessary for overall integration or can I remove it?

I'm reading online this could be a security issue. How do we disable this?

you can disable the OpenH264-Videocodec in the firefox menu ≡ > addons > plugins panel (=never activate).

Philipp, thank you very much for your prompt help. I'm glad you're part of the Community.
