When I open a new tab, it DOESN'T show my top sites.
So, when I opened a new tab, it used to go to the "top sites" page, but now it's going to this site: search.conduit.com/?gd=&ctid=CT3324415&octid=EB_ORIGINAL_CTID&ISID=M77E53D47-0CB9-4A9A-AC0A-8EBB5A0AC2DE&SearchSource=69&CUI=&SSPV=&Lay=1&UM=2&UP=SPB8ACF8E9-DA2F-45D0-B790-530FBBDECD53
How do I get it to go to the "top sites" page again like it used to. I don't know what's causing it to go to this other site. Thanks.

Never mind. It's been fixed. It was probably a virus causing it.

Hello,
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions and some Preferences.
- Open websites will not be saved in Firefox versions lower than 25.
To Reset Firefox do the following:
- Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
- Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
- Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
- Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Thank you.
If you have a lot of add-ons and don't mind tinkering a bit, before doing a reset, it's worth checking whether you have a rogue extension or two that you can disable or remove.
Open the Add-ons page using either:
- Ctrl+Shift+a
- (Fx28) orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
- (Fx29) 3-bar menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable.
Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
If the Remove button is missing, this typically indicates the extension was installed by external software and you could use the Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a Program, to try to remove it. Clicking the "Installed on" column heading is useful to find bundled items that snuck in with free software.
For future reference, there's a hidden setting for the new tab here:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste newtab and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the browser.newtab.url preference and enter your preferred page:
- Page thumbnails (default) => about:newtab
- Blank tab => about:blank
- Built-in Firefox home page => about:home
- Any other page => full URL to the page
Press Ctrl+t to open a new tab and verify that it worked. Fixed?
So, this is also happening when Internet Explorer is opened. It's supposed to be going to "dogpile", but instead it goes to the "Conduit" website. Also, the computer had a program by "Conduit", I believe it was the "Search Protect" program. I thought this was causing the browsers to go to the website, but even after we uninstalled the program, the browsers are still going to the website.
Search Protect usually is installed to lock in changes made by some other program. If you review the Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a Program, can you remove other junk?
After that clean-out, check your add-ons again.
- In Firefox, review Extensions
- In IE, use the "Manage Add-ons" dialog (I don't know whether it is in the menus)
Perhaps comparing both will help in spotting the culprit?
And then in Firefox, you will still need to update the newtab setting, or you can use this extension to do it:
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/searchreset/
That also will switch to the built-in home page, so if you don't want that, go ahead and use the manual method further up this thread.
