Every since I installed firefox when a new page loads when browsing the internet I get a 4" square blank chat box that opens in the right lower corner. I've tried disabling my chat on all programs and it doesn't solve the issue. I never have this problem when using chrome or internet explorer. I design web sites and like firefox the best for checking my pages after making changes. I would prefer to make firefox my default browser and delete chrome but this box opening is very annoying. Thanks, Tad Fitzgerald

Do you have the source address for your Firefox in your download history? There are some unofficial bundles that may contain unwanted extras.

To find the cause of page modifications, I suggest checking the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then disable ALL nonessential or unrecognized extensions.

Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

Does that get rid of the box?

Hi Tad Fitzgerald,

This sounds like the content in the new page may be not working correctly. You can try Safe Mode Use Troubleshoot Mode in Firefox to see if there are any issues with the add ons or you can also try Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems

What is the url of the new url feature in about:config? The feature is browser.newtab.url.

I hope this helps.
