Can you tell me a way to get rid of this website (http://home.webalta.ru/?new) as my home page ?

I got this website when I installed Adobe Reader 11 from a 3rd party website a year ago.I uninstalled the Webalta Toolbar and the search engine which came with it instantly and I set the home page back to FVD Speed Dial extension, but it was of no use.I tried it plenty of times.Currently,I'm using the Kaspersky Anti-Banner extension to dispay a black page instead of it,as I don't like to see that page.

Resetting Firefox should take care of this - Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Let me know how it goes,
Michael

You can open the about:config page via the location bar and search for prefs that refer to webalta.ru and reset related user set (bold) prefs via the right-click context menu to the default value.

If you have problems with preferences, see:
