After installing update today, search box won't work more than once.
I'm running OS 10.8.5 on a late 2012 iMac. Since downloading and installing the Firefox update today (28.0), the search box to the right of the url bar only works when Firefox is first launched. After one search, subsequent searches are not possible: I type in any word or phrase, hit Return, and nothing happens. No difference whether it's set to Google, Yahoo, or whatever. If I quit and relaunch Firefox, everything's fine again...but only for the first search. Everything was working fine until I did today's update.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

Other thing that you can try:
Try to repair the disk permissions:
Try to remove the Firefox plist file (org.mozilla.firefox.plist).

Go to "~/Library/Preferences" and remove the plist file for Firefox (org.mozilla.firefox.plist)
