firefox 28 automatically tries downloading a file when it starts
I just upgraded to Firefox v28 and noticed new behaviour.
Every time I start firefox, it now automatically tries to download a hp help file from the following link.
How can I stop firefox from doing this?
Chosen solution
I want to thank everyone who offered a solution to this problem, I appreciate the time that other friends have made to offer suggestions.
I only noticed the problem after upgrading to v28, but I don't think it is related to that.
I downloaded MalwareBytes AntiMalware and ran it. It found 2 problems. I deleted them and reloaded v28, and all now seems to be fine.
I may have had some kind of infection, but it would be the first for years, since I run multiple firewalls and the latest Kaspersky and none of them picked anything up.
Anyway, the problem seems to have gone away (permanently I hope).
Thanks to all.

Try restore your home page: Try restore your home page:
Try go to about:config search for browser.startup.homepage change its value to:
about:home - default
about:blank - blank page
url - type a link that you want

Thanks for trying to help Diego, but I tried all the recommendations and nothing helped, whenever I start firefox it still tries to automatically download the hp help file.
See if the way of the Firefox shortcut is correct!
Open the download manager and check if anything is in there. Cancel any pending downloads.
