hello ashlee, when you have set firefox to be the default browser on a system, then it should open html files automatically once you double-click them. alternatively in firefox you can press the keyboard shortcut ctrl+O in order to bring up a file dialog, where you can pick the particular html files you want to open.

It is properly best to use a .html file extension and not .htm to prevent issues with configuring web servers if you need to upload the file(s).

Also, using your files browser, hold down the left key on that file, and drag it to the Firefox window.
