Facebook, Meteomedia, and Gmail not working for me with latest update, even in safe mode

That pretty much sums it up. As of yesterday, with the most recent update, firefox is not displaying these sites properly. Someone else posted a similar question about it. It was tagged as solved, but there is no solution posted. Here is his question: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/963125 I have the same problem as him with fb. In addition to the problem with fb, Gmail does not finish loading. And Meteomedia does not display the weather forecast. I am sure plenty of other sites are affected as well.

All sites are working fine in Seamonkey, which I am using again, now. I went to oldapps to download v. 22 of ff, but whatever the most recent update changed was not reverted when I installed v.22. The problem persists. I could uninstall it altogether and then fresh install v.22, I suppose, but I am worried that my browsing history, passwords, sessions, etc, would be affected, and I don't want to find all those files and back them up first. It's a hassle. Since the sites are working in Seamonkey, I am guessing it is not down to the fact that I updated flash at the same time. I don't know how much those sites use flash, either. But if it is a flash problem, I figure I should have the same problem in Seamonkey, and I don't.

I wish you guys would have an easy option to rollback your updates because it is damn annoying when they cause problems. Usually they are not lethal problems, though, and the browser still works. Now ff is not working for some of the sites I use most frequently.

Hello,

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
  2. Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
  3. Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
  4. From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
  5. Now click the Clear now button.

Further information can be found in the Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox article.

Also certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a Clean reinstall. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:

Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.

  1. Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
  2. After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
  3. Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    • Windows:
      • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
      • C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
    • Mac: Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
    • Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Install Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
  4. Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
    1. Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
    2. Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.

This will not remove essential info unless you check the box "Delete all my personal data too".

Please report back to see if this helped you!

Thank you.
