No matter what I try, the add-on bar always turns itself on again every time I start Firefox. Also, every time I open a new window? How do I make it so it's not visible/active when I start the program?

This can happen if you have extensions that place content/info on the Add-ons bar.
In such a case the add-ons bar can be enabled to make you aware.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Surely there's a firefox setting to override plug-ins controlling the global interface?
