Having had no problems at all with firefox, after my brother ended up on a 'dodgy' site which closed the browser abruptly, any time I open my browser to look at any page on my home pc I get the "server not found" message. My laptop and phone are browsing fine with no problems. Thanks for your help.

Chosen solution

Do a malware check with a few malware scan programs. You need to use all programs because each detects different malware. Make sure to update each program to get the latest version before doing a scan.

check also for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

Thanks for your reply. I think it must be "malware" as the help steps have not worked. What would you recommend. Thanks again.
