How to install a "cut-down" version alongside my main one?
There are older answers re this on record but refer to V3 & 4.....
I'm running the current version and "need" (HA!) the 100 extras I've installed on it.
What I'd like to do is install another clean version and only install vital components like NoteTabPro, Zemanta, quoteUrlText and possibly...... Bookmarks (Somebody told me that they take up memory greatly). Unfortunately the test version allows no extras at all, of course. Would be a great added capability like the private browser to be able to choose a fast version not so hungry.
Cheers!

You can create an extra profile with no extensions installed.
Create a desktop shortcut with -P "profile" appended to the target to launch Firefox with that profile.
See these mozillaZine KB articles for information:

Use the -no-remote command line switch to open another Firefox instance with its own profile if you want to run different Firefox versions simultaneously.

You could try a "portable" installation of Firefox from PortableApps: http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable
Although it was originally designed to run from a USB flash drive, I think it can run from your hard drive as well.

THanks people, Corel - this solved it nicely for me - even with pictures! http://kb.mozillazine.org/Creating_a_new_Firefox_profile_on_Windows Of course I had to run Opera to keep the instructions available....... :-)
Cheers! WOOPS! It didn't work! The instructions followed simply started up Firefox - not an option box.?????
Modified
ADDED TO SAGA: 1. Went back later and tried instructions again and it worked. 2. I could be wrong, but it appears that getting Firefox out actual memory may depend on whether or not you simply hit the big red X, Or file/exit. 3. The alternate options as to which Firefox to start did appear a bit random. 4.HOWEVER! My new drastically slimmed down version works like lightning! -) 5. AND after importing my 2 million bookmarks (well not quite), there was no appreciable difference in the load speed! (I used the X marks synchroniser.)
Thanks again for the help. it's a great solution for those who need the big power add-ons and an alternative very fast browser for such jobs as constant Web design checking and fast lookups.
