Every time Firefox auto updates, my entire laptop (except keyboard lights) becomes COMPLETELY dead. The only solution is to remove all power, reconnect and restart, then all works fine. Any reasons or suggestions please? Dell Latitude E6510 Windows 7 pro

Run all Windows Updates, install all needed service packs, etc.
Update your graphics driver (Firefox uses your graphics card for some rendering, and an out of date graphics card driver can cause problems. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-upgrade-my-graphics-drivers.
Update all your plugins (Flash, Java, etc.): http://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/.
Download and Install MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, run a full Scan. http://www.malwarebytes.org/. This helps check that there are no viruses on your computer causing issues. You can uninstall this program after you clean off any infections.
Hi Tylerdowner Thank you for your reply. I followed your suggestions. Windows is completely up to date. MB reported clean. 2 plugins requ updating. Intel said to update to a later driver - Win7vista. Some way through doing this Windows shut down saying it was a protection measure. On loading after restart a message window headed' hkcmc.exe - Bad Image' popped up -see attached. I don't know what this means or what to do about it. Can you help further please?
It looks like when you updated your graphics driver your system botched it. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/zh/w7itprogeneral/thread/577fd776-237d-4299-a0e7-9b3a9440a60f.
Try either going into msconfig, then startup to disable it, or try reinstalling the driver again. If you are getting bluescreens while installing the driver, it is likely you have something very wrong with your computer and should take it to your local computer repair shop.
