In the past two days, any search I do with google either with the firefox search bar or by going to google itself goes back to google.com after I click the search term whch I wanted. I have no idea why this is. If I middle click the link the searched website will open in a new tab but if I left click, I go back to google's main site. I've cleared all the cache, run spybot but the problem still remains. I'm using the latest version of firefox. I've tried searching in bing and bing works fine. Any ideas how to solve this?

Chosen solution

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Use Troubleshoot Mode in Firefox to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

HTTPS everywhere was the culprit. I've enabled Google API's. Works well now
