When I try to launch firefox it won't open a window. It shows that it is running in the task manager but I can't see it open on the desk top. I am trying to run 10 on windows xp. Any ideas?

Have a look at http://www.processlibrary.com/directory/files/sysfader/23789/ especially the first graphic showing sysfader.exe in the processes list. Remove it and see if FF starts. Hate to get back to square one.

If nothing works so far, then:

Start / Run / enter msconfig in the box and click OK. In the General tab, select the second entry "Diagnostic .....", then choose to restart and see if FF now loads.

I am doing that now

See you're running XP. Just to satisfy curiosity, have you updated to SP3?

Yes I have sp3. FF still not working

Did you follow the instructions to run msconfig in diagnostic mode?

Reboot, do NOT try to load Firefox. Is firefox.exe in the processes list?

A pop came up with the following message"an access denied error was returned while attempting to change a service. You may need to log on using an administrator account to make specified changes "

Still having the same problem. The image is the TaskManager after running MSConfig

Then re-log on, this time as administrator and try to start FF. You may have been logged in as admin when installing and chose to run FF as admin only and when you log in as an ordinary user, it won't run.
