pulldown menus on websites flash but do not go on

When I go to some website and try to use a pulldown menu it flashes but does not stay on and allow me to click on the right entry. For example, in ordering stuff on the web, when I try to enter my address there is usually a pulldown menu for the state. But I cannot get it to open. It just flashes momentarily and then disappears. It must be a Firefox problem, since it works fine with IE.

Try to disable hardware acceleration.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.
