Wow, thanks! That did the trick! (I mean updating the subscriptions in Adblock Plus preferences).

GMail entire message content missing (blank) after header title

In Firefox, if you have "Adblock Plus" extension.

  1. "Ctrl+Shift+F" Preferences (or right click on ADP symbol, and choose preferences)
  2. 'Filters' menu > "Update all subscriptions"

I've got the same problem, it's also caused by Adblock pro. Updating the filterrules didn't help solving the problem. I'll try to keep updating them, for now I've disabled Adblock pro on gmail.com

I have "EasyList (USA)" and "Fanboy's List" filter subscriptions that filtered content on my own gmail inbox items that I looked at, fortunately none of my own filters were involved. see below

from Adblock - MozillaZine Knowledge Base article

"Right click on the ADP toolbar icon or addons bar icon and choose "Open blockable items". Suggest displaying: Address, Filter, Type, and State (sorted, red at top) -- selected from the icon at the right of the titles. From here you can right click on an item and are offered several choices to create a filter that would block that item. You should be familiar with the Getting started usage documentation from when you installed the extension.

If something is blocked you will be able to see what filter blocked it and where that filter resides by hovering over the blocked item line to identify where the filter came from -- which filter subscription(s), or your own. There is also a context (right-click) menu associated with each line. You can block/unblock the filter on that list via the context menu for the line and see the change in the "State" symbol, or permanently delete the filter altogether on the Preferences list."

I don't have Adblock extension so any other solution to the gmail not loading when I start Firefox?

more options

possibly a hosts file, but not likely.

Do you have any other extension to block advertisements. You would probably require JavaScript, if you went to the new format of GMail, I'll wait.

If you run in Safe Mode and it works then it is most likely an extension.

For those with a similar problem with Virgin where the updating filters did not work see https://support.mozilla.com/questions/896294 for suggestions on changing the filters in use.
