deleted a booksmark toolbar folder by mistake, can I get it back
deleted a bookmark toolbar folder instead of one bookmark in the folder. Can I get the folder and contents back?
Chosen solution
There is no guarantee that files are restored correctly, so it is possible that the JSON backup(s) that you restored are corrupted.
You can check the file with a text editor.
A JSON backup is one long line with no line breaks and only ASCII characters.
You can see if you can restore a working JSON backup.

Make a bookmark backup file in case you prefer your current state to an earlier state of your bookmarks from today or yesterday.
To create your own backup of bookmarks:
- see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Backing_up_and_restoring_bookmarks_-_Firefox#Creating_bookmark_backups
- You can also create your own bookmark backups, by opening the Library window, clicking the "Import and Backup" button (button with a star icon on Mac OS) and selecting "Backup...".
then to restore from one of the firefox created backups in the topic just after the above:
If you have accidentally removed bookmarks then use "Organize > Undo" in the bookmarks manager (Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks) to get them back.
The Organize button is the first of the three buttons on the toolbar in the Library (Bookmarks Manager).
That only works if you haven't closed Firefox.
If it didn't work then you can restore the bookmarks from a JSON backup.
This will replace all current bookmarks and you lose bookmarks that were added since that backup was created.

It worked! Thank you!

Hey, Cor-el... I got the same issue here... I kind of deleted my personal data, as well as Bookmarks too when re-install my browser, tried Piriform Recuva & did retrieved bunch of json files(only "bookmark*date.json" files), then copy/paste to my existing profile in bookmark backup, but the bookmark manager state : " Unable to process the backup file"... Try Windows System Restore, still no go...
What else can I do.... Am I missing some crucial step for the retrieving the deleted json files ???? Pls lend me some help.... I've came to a dead end now...
