Random problem downloading files

I'm having a random problem downloading files from various web sites. I click the file to download it and instead of getting the save file box with the file name I'll get something like "attachment.php". It always seems to be php files.

Clicking the file numerous times to download it will eventually download but it's very frustrating.

I've been through all the trouble shooting guides and suggestions. Nothing made any difference. I've turn off add-ons, virus scanners etc to no avail.

For instance, this is the last download I tried (click the download button):

http://www.pixologic.com/zbrush/getting-started/

I got "download.php" which isn't just the zip file with a different name. It's actually different.

Doing it a few times I eventually got the zip file.

It seems to happen on any web site. The common theme is that this ".php" is involved.

Is this a bug? Any ideas?

Do you see the correct link that I posted above at the bottom of the browser window if you hover the Download button?

You may have security software like a firewall or anti-virus software that that is causing the problems if Safe mode didn't help.

Try to increase the pref browser.download.saveLinkAsFilenameTimeout

Thanks for the suggestion.

Made it 5 (5000) then 10 seconds but no change. The change was made when the browser wasn't running. The download popup was appearing before the timeout value, so I guess it's not related?

That is a ZIP archive (ZBrush_Getting_Started.zip) that I get when I click the Download button.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Thanks.

Started in safe mode. Turned off hardware acceleration. Using default theme.

Sorry no change. I still get the same problem?

To be honest, now that I discovered if I try repeatedly I can actually get the files in the end, I'm not too bothered. It's just a nuisance. It also doesn't happen on all web pages, just some.

Sorry, I thought I had tried turning off my anti-virus software but it seems not.

It looks like Kaspersky was the culprit. If I turn off the web anti-virus and they all work fine. I'll report the issue to them.

Thanks for your help.
