I can see you are using the 'Account Hub' It's possible the 'Account Hub', which is still experimental, is causing the problem. Suggest you disable it and try again. This has the solution for many people.
- In Settings > General
- Account Hub
- Uncheck - 'Create accounts in the new Account Hub'
Then try again to create the account.
- Menu app icon > New Account > Email
This didn't work, still getting the error
Do you have any VPN running? Many servers do not like a VPN as it hides your IP address. Many Anti-Virus products now offer a VPN and in some cases I've discovered they were auto enabled. Please double check to see if a VPN was enabled - switch it off. If you discover a VPN then check for a Kill Switch - some VPN if connection is lost will invoke a Kill Switch which stops internet connection.
re :add my Spectrum email back in Thunderbird, I presume the lost Thunderbird meant you had to reinstall Thunderbird or when you started Thunderbird it had lost knowing how to access the mail account acting ike it was using a new profile.
Did you also remove all the previously saved passwords? If no then please check now and remove them if they still exist.
- Settings > Privacy & Security
- Scroll to Passwords section
- click on 'Saved Passwords'
Do you have any lines where the 'username' = the email address of account you are trying to add back into Thunderbird ? Normally, each account would have two lines one for incoming and one for outoing. Select each relevant line and click on 'Remove'. Then Exit Thunderbird to force background processes to properly update file. Upon restart - try to create account.
Are you talking about a 'spectrum' email address or another that uses the spectrum server? Are you using a password that spectrum says is 'secure' ? Maybe Spectrum is being awkward because it wants you to set up a new password that they deem as more secure. eg: uses 12 chars, uses upper and lower case with numerals.
