My problem is bigger than just this, but I'll begin here.

1. Sometimes, when requesting "Get Messages" from a Thunderbird account, I will see a message count appear, download, and then conclude. 2. However, when looking through the email inventory for this account, no email appears. 3. IOW. If I have "Myemail" defined, and I'm ABSOLUTELY sure that "Myemail" is entirely empty.

  1. I then select "Get Messages" for "Myemail", and I see one, or more, email documents found, and begin receipt.
  2. When the receipt concludes, I open "Myemail" Inbox, only to find nothing there. I wander through the entire "Myemail" definition(s), only to find that any/all email receipt(s) for "Myemail" have disappeared.

This is an infrequent occurrence, but does occur. But, the real problem is the synchronization between a specific Thunderbird email account(i.e. "Myemail"), and what a product called "YOTA email migrator"(https://yotasoftware.com/thunderbird-migrator/) says about the current contents of "Myemail". Obviously, the discrepancies are varied, but there will usually be some kind of discrepancy in reporting an "inbox", "sent", "trash", etc. discrepancy. I never keep my email collective permanently in my Thunderbird definitions.

My Thunderbird account definitions redefine ALL message repositories from the default (C:) definitions to another (Q:) residency, permanently mounted external drive. So, by the end of my day, my Thunderbird email inventories have all been drained/distributed to other more topic related final storage.

I've been a long time Thunderbird user, except during the time when Tbird was struggling with many definition changes for POP3 access. But, I've returned to Tbird now that the smoke has apparently cleared. But, this is my FIRST use of the "YOTA email migrator", which was acquired for use during a "Mailbird" usage, while Tbird was being rebuilt.

If you install this "YOTA email migrator" product on your Tbird system, I'm sure you will experience the Tbird email (sub)directory discrepancies that I am describing. I've learned that because my Tbird directories are always zeroed by the end of the day, I can simply erase all those "Local directory" definitions, and they will be rebuilt upon the next Tbird initialization. At which time, the Tbird/YOTA director(ies) content representation will be equal at zero. But, as Tbird email content begins to arrive, and be saved, moved, deleted, etc. the message directory representations between Tbird, and "YOTA email migrator" begin to drift apart.

I KNOW this explanations are quite complex, but I think it will become quite clear if you install the "YOTA email migrator" product, and then begin to review the eventual discrepancies between Tbird's message inventory(ies), and that reported by "YOTA".

Thank you, very much. And, I'm usually frequently available if desired.

When Mr. A sends an email to Mr. B, and Mr. B forwards it to me, I still do not receive it.

Starting today, (April 1, 2025 - coincidence?) my sent mail doesn't go to the 'sent items' folder, it shows up in the inbox. Yesterday, sent message appeared in the 'sent items' folder, today, they're appearing in the inbox (it's unclear to me if they're actually being sent - I'm working on confirming that). I haven't changed any settings.

I have "Place replies in the folder of the message being replied to" checked, but I've always had that checked so no change there. In addition. 'Place a copy in "Sent" Folder on:..." is also selected but set items are suddenly not showing up there.

THunderbird 128.8.0esr (64-bit) running on Win 10

Edit: I just updated to 128.9.0esr (64-bit) to see if that makes a difference but it doesn't.

When I try to empty my Junk folder, TBird just hangs, and I get "Thunderbird is not responding". The only way to get out of this is to terminate TBird and restart it - the Junk folder is still not empty. I don't get this problem with emptying the Deleted folder, and this has only been a problem since I migrated to Windows 11. I am running 128.9.0esr (64-bit) on Windows 11 Pro 24H2.

Some messages do not appear in Inbox, and can not found by Filter (Ctrl-Shift-k). However, when I use Search (Ctrl - k): 1) They are found and 2) the Location is given as ... Inbox. These are recent messages.

How do I know they are there? I occasionally use a Webmail interface to access the account that Thunderbird is linked to and all messages are there. Also, when I get chided by others for not responding to their emails, I go looking.

I have tried Properties | Repair Folder on the Inbox.

Account | Synchronization and Storage settings are:

Keep messages in All Folders on this Computer
Synchronize all messages locally regardless of age
    Don't delete any messages
    Always keep starred messages

Thank you for your consideration and suggestions.

Either as a result of a recent update, or accidentally while troubleshooting another problem, I have changed a setting that affects the appearance of my mail folders.

I am using 128.8.1esr (32-bit) (fully up to date) Thunderbird on Windows 10.

I've attached a screenshot, marking the folders that have recently appeared. I want to get rid of the line "mail.free-online.net" and the INBOX, SENT & DELETED folders. I store all mail locally.

I also notice that my Local Folders message filters are not working. I thuink these two symptoms are related.

There seem to be hundreds of people with Local Folders NOT showing, whereas I have the opposite problem, how to disable the online folders.

Since shortly, the buttons to accept / decline invites in emails has disappeared. All the proposed solutions I could find on the forum so far failed:

- troubleshoot mode did not help - emails are set for all calendars - new profile

Strangely, I tried to make a new profile and setup the emails and calendars again. It worked for my first two calendars. Then I added a third one, and the emails disappeared. I tried to remove the third one again, but it did not solve the problem.

Any idea how to solve this? Just removing one of the calendar is obviously not a solution as I need it.

I use TBsync, Provider for Exchange ActiveSync, Provider for Google Calendar and Send Later as add-ons.

I use the latest supported version 128.8.1esr .

Thunderbird on my wife's computer all of a sudden stopped sending or receiving emails in Thunderbird. Other Internet activity is normal. I can access her Gmail account online and it shows new massages. I tried "sending and receiving" and nothing happened, no error messages. Restarted Thunderbird then rebooted computer.

No changes happened just before Thunderbird quit working. No updates, nothing. Current Malwarebytes shows no issues. Other application programs and browsers work normally. Connection is high speed, wired Ethernet on FiOS.

How do I troubleshoot this? I really, really don't want to nuke everything and start from scratch as that would be a 2 day project and I don't have the time so please no shotgun approaches.

I used Eudora until they quite supporting it, and then in 9/2022 switched to Thunderbird. Long-time contributor Matt was very helpful in walking me though how to transition from Eudora to Thunderbird and then import the many Eudora folders and messages into T-bird under Local Folders. A few days ago I moved from my old Win10 computer to a new Win11 computer. Only the messages that were on the mail.earthlink.net server loaded into T-bird. I had been saving the more important new messages from T-bird to the Eudora folders (stupidly, as it turns out), but now they're not there. Is there a file on the old computer that I can save to flash drive and copy onto the new hard drive, to import the Eudora stuff? I seem to recall there was an mbox file...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
