i had a big problem with windows 10 action center (it won't open at all) only one solution was creating new Microsoft profile and move all files from one to another (including downloads documents desktop and whole appdata folder with firefox inside included)

and theoretically all works fine. I have my firefox account, history, tabs, favorites, theme and plugins, but they have blank icons and doesn't work.

is there any way to automatically redownload and reinstall plugins?

I would like to add that I have 3 browsers (profiles) and different plugins in each.

i found solution by myself.

‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎1 just go to: ‏‏‎ ‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎ ‎‎‏‏‎ ‎%appdata%/mozilla/firefox/profiles/[your-profile]/extensions. ‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎2 open one XPI file, and choose in window open with mozilla. ‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎3 then drag and drop one by one file to mozilla and click "add" in browser

NOTICE Nr1: this folder even contains uninstalled themes/add-ons so look what you're installing. NOTICENr2: for other browser profiles just open other mozilla session with choosen profile and do the same, do not open XPI files with double click because then they will open in default session in default profile. NOTICE Nr3: extensions folder contains plugin/theme files named by [email] or [email]_[plugin-name] or by key: E.g. {762f9885-5a13-4abd-9c77-433dcd38b8fd} is for Return Youtube Dislike, so all are valid and you should check all files one by one.

Are the only missing icons the ones for add-ons?

I actually don't know whether you can reinstall them without uninstalling first (the button on the Add-ons site changes to something like Enable or Remove when the add-on is detected as installed, so you can't simply click Add to Firefox again).

Do any of your add-ons store critical data that you can't afford to lose (such as previous sessions)?

i did found temporary solution, just go to %appdata%/mozilla/firefox/Profiles/[your_profile]/extensions and open one .XPI file. Windows will ask open with what program and chose mozilla, then drag and drop every single file one by one and press add plugin/theme. some themes/plugins may still remain there even if you uninstalled them before so look what you're adding.

IMPORTANT: plugins have names [email]_[plugin-name] E.g. juraj.masiar@gmail.com_ScrollAnywhere.XPI but sometimes they're named just by email for example uBlock0@raymondhill.net.XPI eventually add-ons doesn't have name and they're named by key {XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX} (8-4-4-4-12) and this ones you need to add too. E.g. {762f9885-5a13-4abd-9c77-433dcd38b8fd} stands for return youtube dislike add-on.

same goes for other profiles, just run other-profile firefox and drag and drop files, don't just open them by double click, because then they will open in default profile.

ps. yes some add-ons store critical data: tab stash sorts it's data probably in some xml file without that it would forgot stashed tabs stored in bookmarks. better history re-stores firefox history and it collects them chronologically instead of the chaos that mozilla has. pocket tube stores data about your channel categories and i would be mad if I needed to sort 100+ YT channels again.
